What is the Minnesota Coalition of Scottish Clans (MCSC)?
Founded in 1982 at the Macalester College Scottish Country Fair and Highland Games, we are a non-profit organization comprised of Scottish Clan/Family Societies and Associations. Our mission is to support the Scottish Community by encouraging Minnesotans to celebrate and discover their individual ancestry and our common heritage; as well as promote the growth of our member Clans and Families.
The Purpose of the MCSC
Our purpose is to provide educational assistance and support to new and existing Scottish Clan/Family Societies and Associations, to promote Scottish customs, traditions and culture, to facilitate cooperation with other Scottish groups and associations, and to encourage Minnesotans to get involved with Scottish Clan/Family Societies and Associations.

Membership
Membership in the MCSC is open to any individual representing a recognized Scottish Clan/Family Society or Association or related Scottish organization. If your Clan or Family is not currently represented in the MCSC or is not yet organized in Minnesota, we can help you get started.
Membership Application
What is the Membership Fee?
The annual membership fee is just $30.00 per Scottish Clan/Family Society or Association or Scottish organization. The annual fee is due and payable at the Annual General meeting held in October of each year. Associate memberships are available at a nominal fee; please discuss this with any executive board member.
What are the MCSC's Activities?
We have four (4) business meetings a year (January, March, June and October) to coordinate our participation in various Scottish events in Minnesota and the upper Midwest. We encourage Clan participation in a multitude of local and regional events. We help organize Clan/Family Association participation, at events in activities such as the Parade of Tartans and Clan row, at the Mineesota Scottish Fair and Highland Games. In addition, you can find us at the Scottish Ramble held mid-February and the Renaissance Festival held in September of each year.
Is the MCSC Right for You?
Yes, if you have a volunteer spirit and are proud of your Scottish Heritage, you are more than likely needed. Most Clans welcome new leadership, even if you are not currently active with a Clan/Family Society or Association. We can help you get in touch with the proper Clan contact if your Clan is already organized. If are associated with a Clan that is not organized in the U.S., we can help you with the proper contacts for that as well. Prospective members are invited to attend one of our business meetings prior to joining.
